An Airbnb turnover is different from ordinary house cleaning. The goal is to reset the property so the next guest arrives to a space that feels clean, complete and ready—not simply tidied. A consistent turnover checklist also makes it easier to spot damage, missing items and maintenance issues before check-in.

1. Start with garbage, laundry and a quick inspection

  • Remove garbage and recycling

  • Collect used towels and linens

  • Check for forgotten guest items

  • Look for visible damage or maintenance issues

  • Open blinds or curtains and check lighting

2. Reset bedrooms

  • Strip and replace used bedding

  • Check mattress and pillow protectors

  • Dust nightstands, lamps and headboards

  • Vacuum or mop floors

  • Check under beds and inside obvious storage areas

3. Clean and inspect bathrooms

  • Clean and disinfect the toilet

  • Clean sink, counter and fixtures

  • Clean shower or tub surfaces

  • Polish mirrors

  • Remove hair from drains and floors

  • Replace towels and agreed guest supplies

  • Empty the garbage bin

4. Reset the kitchen

  • Wipe counters and backsplash

  • Clean sink and faucet

  • Wipe appliance exteriors

  • Check the refrigerator for abandoned food

  • Clean visible spills in microwave or appliances as required

  • Wipe table and dining surfaces

  • Empty garbage and recycling

5. Clean high-touch surfaces

Do not forget door handles, light switches, remote controls, appliance handles, railings and other surfaces guests touch frequently.

6. Vacuum and mop floors

Vacuum carpeted areas thoroughly, including edges and visible debris. Mop hard floors after loose dirt and hair have been removed so the final result does not look streaky or gritty.

7. Restock consistently

If your turnover service includes restocking, use a standard list for toilet paper, soaps, coffee supplies, paper products or other guest items. Consistency helps avoid last-minute surprises.

8. Complete a final guest-eye inspection

Before leaving, walk through the property as if you were the arriving guest. Check beds, mirrors, floors, odours, lighting, garbage, towels and presentation. Small missed details often create the biggest guest complaints.
